Photo Tour
The 2006
Annual Meeting on Friday and Saturday, August 18 and 19 in
southern Menominee County had one thing in common with past
Annual Meetings: it was another outstanding
experience for all those who attended. It was held largely on
the property of the Thoneys, last year's Regional Tree Farmers
of the Year and Michigan Tree Farmers of the year the previous
year. The meeting tours demonstrated 45 years of professional forest
management of red pine plantations, northern hardwoods, swamp
land, upland conifer and much more and was an opportunity to
share experiences with other forest landowners. As always it
was an opportunity to have fun with old friends and to make
new friends. There is a good reason that people who have already
attended an Annual Meeting keep returning each year.
Here is a summary of this year's itinerary:
Thursday, 8/17
1:00 pm MI State Tree Farm Committee meeting at Menominee Co. Annex, Stephenson
5:30 pm TF and MFF Board dinner (Dutch) at Belgium Town Restaurant, Stephenson
7:00 pm MFF Board meeting at Warren Suchovsky's house, Stephenson
Friday, 8/18
8:30 am MFA Board meeting at Thoney Farm, Daggett
9:00 am Registration begins at Thoney Farm
11:45 am Soup & sandwich lunch at Thoney Farm
1:00 pm MFA Annual business meeting at Thoney Farm
2:30 pm Bus tour of cedar mill and/or cultural and ecological special areas
5:30 pm Cook out dinner and auction at Thoney Farm (Dave Wellman as Auctioneer)
Saturday, 8/19 all day at Thoney Farm
8:30 am Lumberjack breakfast
9:30 am Day long tour of Thoney Tree Farm Noon Box lunch and continue tour
